How to Select a Mattress
This is one of those chores, yes, that’s right, chores that most people dread. First of all you so seldom have to do it that it feels awkward, and one feels out of touch with what is new. The next thing to overcome is the sticker price shock. After all, the majority of people buy a mattress set once every 15 years or so. Some people even wait far beyond that to buy their next set. A Mattress is a very important purchase. It is vital to get a good night’s sleep. We all work long and hard and we need our sleep to help our bodies recover. This is why it is important to take some time to purchase your new mattress set. The following are some suggestions to help you do just that.
First and foremost, find a reputable dealer. Unfortunately, there are some questionable products and dealers out there, so remember, you get what you pay for.
Second, and if you can, do some research on the Internet. This will help you to see what is available, and also help you decide what questions to ask. Some important things to know about the mattress you will be buying are 1) the warranty, 2) what coil count does it have, and 3) what makes up the mattress itself. There is a lot of other information that you can get, but that can get overwhelming and these three are the most important.
Finally, you need to plan to spend some time in the store so you can try out the mattresses. This means that you should lay on the mattresses exactly the same way or ways you sleep at home. Then try to zero it down to within two that you like, and give each of those at least 5 to 15minutes each. Your body will tell you which one feels best to you. Most stores welcome you to do this because, after all, these mattresses cannot be returned.
Lastly, when you purchase a mattress you should strongly consider purchasing a waterproof mattress cover because most warranties become null and void if you stain the mattress. Along with that, also be certain that your bed frame properly support the box spring and mattress, again to mitigate any warranty issues. So, don't be shy, and instead be smart and put in the time needed to make an informed decision. We sleep an average of 8 hours each day, and it is important to get a good night's rest.
